Community rallies to support New Beginnings Reading

Written by Grace Gomez

New Beginnings Reading have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of Reading.

We were delighted to be invited to our neighboring school the Civitas Academy to receive the food collected at the harvest festival.

The Year 1 children also made individual bags for our homeless guests at the All Night Cafe Shelter for the homeless.

The children baked cookies, wrote poems and kind words for the homeless people and added a pair of socks to each bag.

Our guests were touched to receive a bag from the children at the weekend.

New Beginnings Reading were also nominated for Project Inspire run by Green Park company NVIDIA.

A team of volunteers got to work at the Queens Arms over 2 days during which time they cleaned the carpet, installed a sink in the dining area, completed removed and refitted the flooring, installed shelving, cleared the garden and revamped the bar.

The work has made all of our services run so much more smoothly, we are so grateful for their help.

Mocean provided an event for Microsoft at Twickenham Stadium in Twickenham, south west London and they engaged 300 of their employees.

The Microsoft employees made a selection freshly prepared and packaged grenola, energy balls and porridge oats that were delivered New Beginnings.

Microsoft then paid for a fantastic cooking session for the children at our After School Cafe last week.

30 children took part in the cooking session and had a wonderful time.

Franco Manca in the Oracle also donated 15 fresh pizzas for our homeless guest to enjoy for dinner.

We are delighted to be partnering Brakes, Sutton Park who are now donating food and reducing food waste in Reading, Berkshire.

We really want to thank them and the generous people of Reading for supporting our charity.
