The bank holiday weekend is at its end, and Reading Festival is over for another year! But here at New Beginnings we’ve turned this into a positive by taking part in a hugely successful festival salvage!!
Our amazing team of volunteers gave up their afternoon in the heat to get involved collecting items left behind on the festival site!!
It’s been a really successful day with roughly 300 sleeping bags, 100 tents, and 30 bags of food!! Well done and a big Thank you to everybody involved, everyone did an amazing job (particularly with the heat of the sun)!
Really glad to have been able to rescue all these items so they can be put to use helping the less fortunate in Reading! So great to see the community helping the community, and preventing waste all at the same time!
Also, a big thanks to Afonwen Laundry for washing 100 sleeping bags that we salvaged. Our homeless guests will have freshly laundered sleeping bags and a good night’s sleep at the New Beginnings Reading All Night Cafe, shelter for the homeless at his Queens Arms.
